Disc golf is an easygoing sport most people can get into for very little money and can play for free at most courses. It may not be the biggest sporting community but there is at least one course in the Kahului, HI area. It’s a great reason to get outside and breathe the fresh air if you haven’t been able to pull yourself away from your favorite streaming service show in a while.
Kahului Community Center Park Disc Golf Course
275 Uhu St, Kahului, HI 96732
The Kahului Community Center has a disc golf course on the southern side of the park. There are plenty of holes at this course to give you and a few friends or family members a couple of hours of playtime. Be on the lookout and make sure you know which basket you are supposed to aim for. It can be confusing because some of the baskets are used twice. There are a variety of environments that make use of changes in elevation for a course that is rather unique.
Napili Park Disc Golf Course
50 Maiha St, Lahaina, HI 96761
Luckily, there are other courses on the island. There aren’t many, and this one may be rather far away, but it might be worth the trip for a change of scene. This one might also be more popular overall, with plenty of other park equipment nearby to satisfy everyone who comes along.
Beginner Disc Golf Course Etiquette
Be sure to be respectful of the course, clean up your garbage, and it is usually good etiquette to let more experienced players play through. It’s also a good idea to use brightly colored discs because they are easier to find when you land a disc off the fairway. If all you have is one disc, or you are borrowing one from a friend, be sure to keep a close eye on it.
