Your cell phone’s quality depends a lot on the service it gets. You could have the best and latest Apple or Android phone and still be searching for bars if you pick the wrong carrier. Out of the biggest providers, which one has the best coverage in Maui county? Read more for more information.
Getting the Best Service Depends on Where you Live
Maui isn’t a small place, and some carriers have advantages over others on different parts of the island. For example, AT&T seems to be a better choice in the northwest, yet further south, not so much. Around the big city areas like Wailuku and Kahului, it’s a pretty strong tie between AT&T, Verizon and T-Mobile.
The big three providers all have service over most of the island, but T-Mobile seems to provide the best signal over the most area, geographically. The eastern half of Maui is mostly dominated by T-Mobile’s service area, although AT&T has an edge north of Makawao.
Verizon customers may find themselves with fewer bars than those who use phones serviced by the other two big tower owners. Additionally, people living on the eastern side of Haleakala will find 5G coverage to be limited, but not totally absent. As anyone could guess, the closer you get to the bigger population centers, the better voice and mobile data signal becomes.
If you are getting new cell service or considering switching, think about where you live, where you work and where you go throughout the week. Use the coverage maps through this link to help you figure out what areas are best covered by which carrier.
