Maui Coconut Trees
On the island of Maui, you’ll find that most iconic of tropical trees: the coconut tree. This tree is part of the larger Palm tree family, but it is the only one that produces the famously hard-shelled nut.
Maui Banyan Trees
One of the most extraordinary trees you can ever see is the Banyan tree. There is even an extra large tree in Lahaina that has become an attraction for visitors to the island. Although the species doesn’t come from Hawaii, it seems to flourish here anyway.

Although you can buy bananas anywhere in the country due to modern shipping methods, Maui has the advantage of being a key banana growing location. Grocery store bananas are almost always the same common species, but a variety grow on the valley island.

Maui is the home of many Pine trees, even if the island seems like an unlikely place for a species so associated with wintery climates to grow. Many are grown to be harvested as Christmas trees, as you might expect.
